The Robbie Flower Terrace located in the iconic MCG provides it’s members with the ultimate ‘sports bar’ experience. Members can enjoy a meal and views overlooking Jolimont Park, in a relaxed, open environment conveniently located adjacent to the members stand.
Artillerys brief was to provide an improved members facility reflecting a ‘sports bar’. Creating an outdoor, casual eating and drinking terrace within the MCG required careful planning and a suitable selection of materials.
Appropriate roofing was essential in order to ensure the terrace could operate as a year round destination – both cold and warm weather conditions needed to be accommodated, with the flexibility to open-up the terrace. Large TV screens needed to be conveniently located for ease of viewing, along with a variety of seating options.
A long timber clad bar centres the space providing a focal point and housing necessary catering provisions. Varying zones created within the space, such as the ‘bleaches seats’, floating dry bar tables and fixed bar benches , enables sporting members to gather in a variety of ways.
Timber flooring sets a warm and relaxed environment, complimenting the neutral palette. Clever spatial planning, maximises the footprint of the terrace, ensuring uninterrupted views whilst providing ease of circulation for patrons and staff.
