First State Super Sydney
This service centre for First State Super located in an art deco and heritage listed building in the heart of the Sydney city offered a very unique opportunity to express the architectural qualities of this grand and historic building.
Built in the 1930’s and for many years a warehouse, the space offers a raw, industrial aesthetic of dramatic capped columns and exposed structure.
The Artillery design for this flagship branch in Sydney respected and emphasised the building’s architecture by showcasing the inherent industrial qualities contrasted with a modern fitout conceived as ‘boxes’ within the space.
The use of dark glazing frames drew connections from the building’s framing and also defined key elements of the spaces.
The staff areas are designed with a focus on wellness at work, capitalising on the abundance of natural light and cityscape views along Kent Street combined with an internal hanging garden.
All work desks are sit-to-stand and staff have a light, open breakout space for informal gathering, respite and meal breaks.
